A Step Forward for Sustainable Building
Announcing Our Series A Fundraise

And the Expansion of Our Supply Chain Platform to Mass Timber
Four years ago, we started Cambium with a simple idea: make the lumber supply chain more efficient and upcycle valuable resources that were going to waste. Today, we've built a thriving network of 240+ partners within the lumber industry and diverted over 10,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere – and we're just getting started.
Today, we're excited to announce that we've secured $18.5M in Series A funding, led by VoLo Earth Ventures with participation from NEA, Dangerous Ventures and several of our existing investors. This brings our total funding to $28.5M and validates our technology-first approach to modernizing the wood industry.
There’s a big challenge ahead of us. The $788B wood products industry remains fragmented and inefficient, while demand for sustainable building materials continues to surge. With global wood demand projected to triple by 2050, we face a critical moment to change how we source and use wood in construction. The status quo isn't just environmentally unsustainable – it's economically inefficient, with valuable urban wood resources ending up in landfills while we continue relying on traditional forestry.
Our solution starts with reinventing the supply chain through our platform. We've built a digital ecosystem that connects arborists, sawmills, and manufacturers in one platform, tracking every piece of lumber from source to final product and creating a robust chain of custody data layer for the first time in the lumber industry. We’ve evolved the platform to integrate AI that captures data at every step, turning it into actionable insights that optimize logistics, improve efficiency, and measure real-time carbon impact.
The impact is growing. We've moved over 8 million board feet of wood from waste streams, and forward-thinking brands like Amazon, Equinox, Patagonia, and Gensler are pioneering the use of our Carbon Smart™ Wood.
Now, we're taking an even bigger step. With the new funding, we're launching Carbon Smart™ Wood for Mass Timber, the industry's first cross-laminated timber made from salvaged wood. This isn't just another building material for furniture, decking, and siding – it's a structural product that can be used alongside or in place of carbon-intensive materials like concrete and steel, offering builders a low-carbon solution.
Through partnerships with leading manufacturers Mercer Mass Timber, SmartLam North America, Sterling Structural, and Vaagen Timbers, we're creating mass timber products that exceed rigorous structural standards while storing approximately one metric ton of CO2 per cubic meter.
Thank you to every one of our partners and investors for being on our side and supporting our mission.
