At a critical moment of growth, we are looking for an ambitious and rigorous VP of Finance to create the financial systems and reporting tools to help us become a world-class business. We are looking for applicants who challenge the status quo and can push us to exceed our potential. Beyond cash flow management and reporting, the VP of Finance should expect to be instrumental in our strategic development – as well as play a central role in future fundraising. Candidates should have 5 years of experience in financial management for venture-backed startups – preferably through multiple stages of growth and funding.  Our team operates nationally, with a headquarters in Baltimore, MD. This role is open to hybrid and remote applicants.

What You’ll Do

Financial Management & Strategy (50%)

  • Build and maintain financial forecast model; run scenarios and inform decision-making

  • Calculate burn rate and future cash position for Cambium and its subsidiary companies

  • Generate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for key stakeholders (i.e. executive team, investors, board)

  • Develop and monitor performance metrics to evaluate business health

  • Collaborate with Sales & Supply teams to assess product-level economics and evaluate growth strategies

  • Coordinate and oversee a third-party audit of financials, as necessary

Process Implementation (30%)

  • Work with CEO & CFO to establish department budgets; provide ongoing evaluation of performance against projections

  • Oversee financial policies

  • Level-up our financial processes – assess existing suite of tools and software systems and devise growth strategy

  • Devise recommendations to improve financial management practices

Fundraising Support (20%)

  • Work with CEO to translate performance data into a compelling fundraising story

  • Play an active role in fundraising – provide requisite financial documentation and participate in diligence conversations, where needed

About You: Required

  • 5+ years experience in financial management for venture-backed startups – preferably through multiple stages of growth and funding

  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Deep expertise in Excel. You live for financial modeling, and can create dynamic tools to inform decision-making

  • You’re a wizard of financial synthesis and are comfortable preparing all manner of reports, accompanied by nuanced analysis. 

  • You highly capable working with sophisticated financial management systems

  • You’re purpose-driven. You need your work to have environmental and social impact.

  • You like to chart your course and don’t wait for someone to give you a to-do list! You have an innate ability to jump in, figure it out, anticipate, plan and execute.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA in Finance, Accounting or Economics

Salary Range: $120k - $150k, or commensurate with experience.
