About Us
The Fallen Lumber Company (FLCo) is the premier lumber distributor of wood products made from salvaged material. Based in Baltimore, MD, FLCo saves fallen trees from the landfill and turns them into lumber, millwork, and standard table and countertop blanks.
Originally founded in 2012 as OE Custom–a full service sawmill and wood shop specializing in custom fabrication. We rebranded in 2022 as The Fallen Lumber Company and began prioritizing lumber and millwork products. Since then, FLCo has become the top distributor of Carbon Smart Wood™, material sourced exclusively from the waste stream. We are expanding our reach and need a dynamic sales person to unlock new opportunities across the region.
What You’ll Do
As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for regional lead generation, inside sales, and coordinating with our fulfillment team. Based in the Baltimore, MD area, you’ll be knocking and talking to spread the work of Carbon Smart Wood™ to get folks aware and excited about how to use this innovative material on their projects. It won’t be the norm, but you might have to jump in the shop from time-to-time to whip out some samples. We want people who are hungry and excited to be part of our growing movement.
Lead Generation (60%)
Build relationships with local architects, builders, lumber buyers, contractors, and construction companies interested in sourcing local material
Lead shop tours, give presentations about our work and material to target audiences
Come up with diabolical ways to reach those folks
Inside Sales (40%)
Once you land the deal, it gets magically fulfilled right? WRONG!
Finalize order specs and coordinate with our fulfillment team to ensure a flawless sales process and customer journey
Communicate with customers on project updates and timelines
About You: Required
You have at least 5 years experience in sales; Strong preference for wood products, building materials and/or construction sales experience
You can sell milk to a cow, but you make sure the cow comes back for more!
You like to chart your course and don’t wait for someone to give you a to-do list! You have an innate ability to jump in, figure it out, anticipate, plan and execute.
You are a strong verbal and written communicator; you can synthesize the need to know from a sea of information.
You take extreme ownership and check your ego at the door
You can work out of our Baltimore, MD office 75% of the time

You’ve never failed a wood ID quiz in your life
You can read complex construction documents
You have woodworking experience

Salary Range: $70-100k, or commensurate with experience.
